Japan Olympic Jersey
Apparel Design
On the Olympic stage, a jersey is more than a uniform. It’s a symbol of national identity and pride. This design for Japan’s skateboarding kit signifies a story of resilience and strength, reflecting the nation’s unwavering spirit and the drive that propelled its athletes to the world’s highest stage. Bold yet grounded, the kit is a tribute to Japan’s legacy and its relentless pursuit of excellence.

Godzilla Strikes
To capture a truly unique narrative surrounding Japan, I drew inspiration from the cultural phenomenon of Godzilla. Embedded deeply in Japan's media, Godzilla has become a powerful symbol that has evolved alongside the nation itself. Originally a representation of fear, the creature has transformed into a heroic figure, mirroring Japan’s own journey of resilience and reinvention. This iconic evolution became the driving force behind the garment’s design, blending symbolism with cultural identity.

Inspiration Strikes
In the early stages of sketching, I wrestled with balancing the garment’s narrative depth and its visual boldness. I aimed to incorporate elements of Godzilla’s story without leaning too heavily into literal representation. The design breakthrough came when I focused on Godzilla’s iconic path of destruction from the first cinematic representation. This key moment inspired a simple yet striking design detail, a jagged line through the middle. The addition serves as both a nod to the character’s legacy and a defining feature of the jersey’s aesthetic.
